MIT and NREL
In 2009 RME applied for and was awarded a cooperative research & development agreement (CRADA) with NREL and MIT to jointly develop advanced analytical tools to model the performance of wave energy converters.
University of Michigan
The University of Michigan is a sub-contractor to RME on a research & development project which was awarded to RME in 2013 with funding from the U.S. Department of Energy. The project objective is to develop an advanced control system for WEC arrays.
RME is a subcontractor to ABB on a research & development project which was awarded to ABB in 2013 with funding from the U.S. Department of Energy. The project objective is to develop a next-generation electric power take-off system for RME’s WEC technology.
U.S. Department of Energy
Since 2009 the U.S. Department of Energy has provided generous funding to RME to develop its WEC technology.
U.S. Department of Interior – Bureau of Reclamation
The DOI-Bureau of Reclamation has funded a research & development project that has allowed RME to build and test a technology which enables wave energy converters to be coupled to reverse osmosis desalination systems.
Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM)
In 2010 and 2011, BOEM partially subsidized RME’s test program at its Ohmsett wave tank facility in Leonardo, NJ.
