Resolute Marine Delivers Keynote Presentation at the “Blue Growth and Economy” Conference

Resolute Marine was invited to make a presentation at the “Blue Growth and Economy - Sharing Perspectives and Experiences for Africa” conference which was held May 3rd through May 5th in Mindelo, Cape Verde
The conference was organized by the Cape Verde Ministry of Economy and Employment and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and included 150 participants representing 30 delegations, primarily from African coastal nations, small island developing states (SIDS) and international NGOs. Conference delegates included ministerial delegations from six participating countries: Cabo Verde, Grenada, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Madagascar, and São Tomé and Principe
“The conference was a great opportunity for us to present our Wave2OTM technology to a large number of delegations from the African continent who could directly benefit from it” said Mr. Oscar Melicio, Resolute Marine’s project manager in Cape Verde. Mr. Melicio added “It was quite a coincidence that the conference happened to be just a few miles away from the location where Wave2OTM will be piloted for the first time.” About the FAO Blue Growth Initiative: Since 2014, the FAO Blue Growth Initiative has supported the adaptation of improved governance for aquatic sectors related to food security and the fight against poverty, the transformation of fisheries production systems, and the adoption of new practices by communities to improve their income and wellbeing from aquatic ecosystems in a way that ensures their sustainability. Under the Blue Growth Initiative, FAO is engaged throughout the world and alongside several countries in Africa to mobilize their capacity for action and support national initiatives on the path towards these transformations
Since 2015, FAO has been committed to support Cabo Verde’s Blue Growth Charter through the Blue Growth Initiative. In 2017, with assistance provided by the African Development Bank, it was expanded to serve as a platform for dialogue between technical and financial partners supporting national initiatives. The Charter guides the development of projects for institutional reform, transformation of production systems and the adoption of practices consistent with the principles of Blue Growth
About Resolute Marine: With funding provided by the African Development Bank, Resolute Marine is planning the development of a pilot-scale, wave-powered desalination project on the island of Sao Vicente, Cape Verde. Resolute Marine’s local project manager, Mr. Oscar Melicio, is responsible for organizing and managing the technical surveys, civil engineering and stakeholder outreach activities associated with the project.
