December 6, 2011
RME CEO Bill Staby was today elected Chairman of the U.S. delegation to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) TC-114 standards development committee. As Chairman of the U.S. delegation, Bill will be managing eight project teams that are developing technical standards applied to the marine hydrokinetics (MHK) industry in areas including device performance assessment, resource measurement/characterization, design integrity and operational safety. “The development of standards is critical to the advancement of the MHK industry,” Mr. Staby said. “Without them, MHK project developers, insurers and financiers cannot readily evaluate various risks or rely upon third party certifications.” Bill continued; “I’m honored to have been selected by my peers to lead the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG).” “My goals are to increase the number of U.S. experts serving on our project teams, improve communication and collaboration among team members and effectively represent U.S. interests in international proceedings.”
